The Historic Lafayette Theater

Built in 1924, named for the Revolutionary War hero the Marquis de Lafayette, the Lafayette Theater began with the silent film "Scaramouche" at 25 cents a ticket, then became home to live vaudeville and film presentations. In the 1990's, Robert Benmosche, a resident of Suffern (now departed), purchased the building. Since then, the Benmosche Family has continued to invest in the preservation of this community gem. Today, the theater remains open and welcomes guests with first run and classic films, film festivals and other live performances. Visit the theatre's website for a listing of current movies as well! www.lafayettetheatersuffern.com

Wild & Scenic Film Festival

The environmental community of Rockland, Bergen, and Orange Counties welcomes the Wild & Scenic Film Festival back to Suffern to celebrate Earth Day by watching films that promote participation in outdoor adventures and environmental activism. Considered one of the nation’s premiere environmental and adventure film festivals, the shorts illustrate the Earth’s beauty, the challenges facing our planet, and the work communities are doing to protect the environment.

This fundraiser supports local volunteer nonprofits and includes a raffle and free door prizes.
